  Plum and Cherry Blossoms Festival
  As early spring comes to Jiangsu, the province's gardens are coated in blankets of pink and white flowers as their many cherry and plum trees come into bloom.  While there are plum groves in the gardens and parks of many of Jiangsu's cities, some of the most impressive displays are in Nanjing and Wuxi. 

     Lantern Festival
 
   Held two weeks after the Lunar New Year, the Lantern Festival is one of the liveliest Chinese festivals and an especially entertaining one for foreign visitors. Nanjing hosts one of all China's most lavish and popular lantern displays.  There are many legends behind the lantern festival

  Hanshan Si New Year Bell Ringing
  The ancient Hanshan Temple in Suzhou is home to one of China's oldest and largest New Year's festivals. In traditional Chinese culture, the stroke of midnight is celebrated by ringing the great bells of Buddhist temples.  At Hanshan Temple an array of activities and performances have been arranged around the ringing to make it a fascinating and entertaining way to ring in the New Year!   

  Fuzi Miao Culture Festival
  April: Fuzi Miao Culture Festival -Beginning in late April, the Fuzi Miao Culture Festival makes Nanjing's historic district even more lively with many traditional performances.  Held in the public square in front of the Fuzi Miao Confucian Temple, the festival offers tourists a chance to see a wide variety of traditional dances and also demonstrations of folk crafts. 

  Fuzi Miao Food Festival
  The Fuzi Miao district once again hosts a special event in September - the Fuzi Miao Food Festival. Fuzi Miao is famous throughout China for its snacks and appetizers, a legacy of the district's centuries old role as an entertainment and tourism center. 

  Dragon boat races
  Dragon boat races are one of China's oldest traditions, dating back over 2,500 years, and in the last decades the popularity has spread around the world, with the sport well established in places as far flung as Singapore, Canada, and Australia.  Although you can paddle a dragon boat any time of the year, the true focus of the sport is the Dragon Boat festival itself, complete with its own special foods and legendary origins.

  Xuzhou Han Dynasty Banquet Festival
  October / November -Xuzhou, with its terra-cotta warriors, ancient tombs, and stone carvings, is a window into the world of Han Dynasty China.  After seeing carvings of ancient banquets and festivals, in October and November you can have the chance to actually try the same foods that were enjoyed at those long ago feasts. 

  Zhouzhuang river town traditional atrs festival
  April 3 - Zhou Zhuang River Town Traditional Arts festivals.Held in the ancient river town of Zhouzhuang, this festival celebrates the arts of the water towns of the Yangzi Delta- not only their folk arts, but also contemporary photography and painting inspired by their unique and picturesque environment.
